May Day

High Priestess

On the ancient altar of the Great Mountain and Starry Heaven we stand.
For in times of old Mother Earth was the sacred altar.
Thus Her children would gather to honor Her in the seasons of Her Circle
And the sacred places were the points within the Spiral of the Circle.
Spiraling out from Day of the Dead to May Day and back again
To the wonder and glory of all ever repeating and never ending.
The Spiral of life, without which we would not be.
Ttruly erected the holy twin pillars of dark and light, death and growth.
As with all life there is a rhythm we live by and it calls to us now to LIVE.
In beauty and strength Mother Earth is in bloom all around us.
She calls to us by the colors of Her fertile Earth,
That we not speak not of Her as One, but as continuous.
For She is also the point within our center, the origin of all things.
We too are filled with the magick of the fertility of Her Circle of Life.
That Magick we celebrate as we invoke the May Day of self.
O Queen of Life, Bright Sun of Gold and Starry Heaven’s Jewel,
We gather on this holy night to dance and celebrate the Spiral of your seasons.

Maiden

Oh, do not tell the Priest of our Art,
Or he would call it sin;
But we shall be out in the woods all night,
A-conjuring summer in!
And we bring you news by word of mouth
For women, cattle and corn
Now is the sun come up from the South
With Oak, and Ash and Thorn!

Mother

We stand at the mystical pillars,
That stand at the gate of the shrine,
And two are the powers of nature,
The form and the force of divine.
The dark and the light in succession,
The opposites each unto each,
Shown forth as lover and Goddess:
This did our ancestors teach.”
By night he’s the wild wind’s rider,
The Green Man and Lord of the Shades
By day he’s the King of the Woodland,
The dweller in green forest glades.
She is youthful or old as she pleases,
She sails the torn clouds in her barque,
The bright silver lady of midnight,
The crone who weaves spells in the dark.

Men and Women will chant the Beltane Chase song

All

Women:

I shall go as a wren in spring
With sorrow and sighing on silent wing
And I shall go in our lady’s name
Aye, till I come home again

Men:

And we shall follow as falcons grey
And hunt thee cruelly as our prey
And we shall go in our master’s name
Aye, to fetch thee home again

Women:

Then I shall go as a mouse in may
In fields by night and cellars by day
And I shall go in our lady’s name
Aye, till I come home again

Men:

But we shall follow as fat tom cats
And chase thee through the corn and vats
And we shall go in our master’s name
Aye, to fetch thee home again

Women:

Then I shall go as an autumn hare
With sorrow and sighing and mickle care
And I shall go in our lady’s name
Aye, till I come home again

Men:

But we shall follow as swift grey hounds
And dog thy tracks by leaps and bounds
And we shall go in our master’s name
Aye, to fetch thee home again

Women:

Then I shall go as a winter trout
With sorrow and sighing and mickle doubt
And I shall go in our lady’s name
Aye, till I come home again

Men:

But we shall follow as otters swift
And snare thee fast ere thou canst shift
And we shall go in our master’s name
Aye, to fetch thee home again

Women:

Aye, and I’ll come home again.

Crone

So drink the good wine to the Goddess,
And dance and make love in their praise,
Forever Her fair land substances us
In peace till the end of our days.
And Do What Thou Wilt
shall be the challenge,
So be it in love that harms none,
For this is the only commandment,
By magic of old, be it done!

All will wrap the May Pole while chanting the Tree of Life, alternating direction staggering chorus

All

Round the tree of life we go
Twisting turning quick and slow
winding, winding to and fro,
Beginnings into endings flow

All will return to Circle, hold hands and chant together Body in Balance

All

Peace be in my body and Peace be in my heart
Peace be with my family to truly help us grow
We are riding a wonderous rainbow into the source
We are guiding the true destination of our Earth
Love be in my body and Peace be in my heart
Love be with my family to truly help us grow
We are riding a wonderous rainbow into the source
We are guiding the true destination of our Earth
Trust be in my body and Peace be in my heart
Trust be with my family to truly help us grow
We are riding a wonderous rainbow into the source
We are guiding the true destination of our Earth

All will jump the fire (as many times as desires of personal magick) while others chant.

All

Walpurgis Night, the time is right, The ancient powers awake.
So dance and sing, around the ring, And Beltane magic make.
Walpurgis Night, Walpurgis Night,
Upon the eve of May,
We’ll merry meet, and summer greet,
Forever and a day.
New life we see, in flower and in tree,
And summer comes again.
Be free and fair, like earth and air,
The sunshine and the rain.
Walpurgis Night, Walpurgis Night,
Upon the eve of May,
We’ll merry meet, and summer greet,
Forever and a day.
As magic fire be our desire
To tread the pagan way,
And our true will find and fulfill,
As dawns a brighter day.
Walpurgis Night, Walpurgis Night,
Upon the eve of May,
We’ll merry meet, and summer greet,
Forever and a day.
The pagan powers this night be ours,
Let all the world be free,
And sorrow cast into the past,
And future blessed be!
Walpurgis Night, Walpurgis Night,
Upon the eve of May,
We’ll merry meet, and summer greet,
Forever and a day.

Time is now granted for personal time and magick of Bel-fire and Circle.
