HP
"Tonight sisters we meet to celebrate the Fall Equinox, the second moment of the year when the sun passes the equator and the night and day is equal. The Moon is entering into Libra, the scales, balance. It is a time to see and work on the idea of 'as above, so below, as within, so without'. We have seen the Maiden transform into Mother, now is the time of the Mother to rest and time for the Crone to come forth and reign during the time of coming darkness and stillness. As witches and daughters of Goddess, balance within begins with understanding that we are always a balance of the Feminine Trinity.
Though some of us in earthly years might still be maiden, some at the beginning of motherhood, others in between the earthy realms of mother crone, and some beloved and honored as the wise women of our circle, we all represent each aspect of the Goddess. Some of us have forgotten the Maiden and her ever-frolicking naivety. Some of us are the ever present Mother and others fighting being the Crone, thinking that it is an time of passage from one lifestyle to another. When we lose sight of one or more aspects of Goddess, we begin to become unbalanced. Tonight we will see and rediscover the balance of the Feminine Trinity through the legends and myth of the Iroquois and Cherokee Nations, The Three Sisters.

"Three Sisters Story"

HP
"We began our journey at Samhain on the Wheel of the Year. Like the crops that provided life and food for our ancestors of past, so does the cycle of the harvest represent how we as women can find balance within ourselves and within our coven by finding the Feminine Trinity of Goddess that lies within and exists without all of us. Let us follow the wheel and the growth of the three sisters."

North- Winter
The days are cold and dark
Winter outside and family within
Fire breaks the harshness of the gray.
Mother sets a pot next to the hearth
Pays honor to the Three,
Corn, Bean and Squash
Sisters of legend and
Sustenance received.

East-Spring
The women gather,
The earth's been tilled
Maidens dance for spring is here.
The dirt's been formed
Into a mound,
The women dance
Three times around.
Three Sisters planted into the earth
Maidens sing of Mother's growing Girth.

Fire-Summer
Midsummer's come the crops do grow
Corn is strong and tall, in the wind
Swaying to and fro.
Bean has blossomed now is dark green
Climbing up Corns sturdy stock
Her sprouts appearing long and lean.
Squash's leaves now spread out wide
Under which her crops does lie
Providing a cool shady place to hide.
The sun is hot, the earth is dry
But the Three Sisters are growing fine
A beautiful site to Mother's eye.

Water-Autum
First harvest has come and gone
with fruits, veggies flowers and herbs
Surviving the harsh summer sun,
Second harvest now is done.
First the Squash, plentiful and fat
Kept the ground moist and the weeds choked out.
Last to grow, first to pick
From the cool ground where she sat.
Next is Bean, large and green,
From her large trellising bush
Plentiful harvest of pods and seed
First to grow, last to pick
Corns job is done, full ears
To shuck, to dry, or eat.
Three Sisters planted as one
Supplying each other's needs
Working together until their duty done.

HP
Through the seasons and the wheel the Three Sisters grow and work together. As Maiden, Mother and Crone, we also cycle and change with the wheel. Let us now each listen to Goddess and here her words so we may grow strong. For we are the mounds the seeds are planted in and grow.
Crone:Corn Woman
Crone: Corn Woman I am the Crone, the aspect of you that has seen and experienced many joys and pains. I am the part of you that offers wisdom and sanctuary, do not run from me when I approach, for my coming does not bring the passing of youth, but brings the beginning of living on a level you have not know. For like the corn, I am well rooted, strong and sturdy. I am the sentinel, standing ever erect to look and warn you of impending danger. It is my voice you hear when things are not right, run towards my voice in times or trouble and I will be your support.
Mother:Bean Girl
I am the Mother, that aspect of you that is supplies nutrients, home, hearth and comfort to those around you. Like Bean Girl, I dart here and there always looking and always finding ways of provision for those around. I am always thinking, always moving for my job is to provide for you. The stalk of the Crone supports me, my roots provide the nutrients you need to grow strong and raise upward as your body grows and yields the crop you expect.
Maiden: Squash Blossom
I am the Maiden, that aspect of youth and ever seeking ambition. I am like Squash Blossom, steady and on pace, taking notice of all around me. I will provide shade a place of retreat when life gets to overwhelming, for I will not let weeds grown into the memories of happiness, nor will I allow your heart to become dry and thirsty, for I always am Seeking the ways of Goddess. I am provided nutrients by my Mother who nurtures me as I grow and as my roots entwine with those of my Mother and of the Crone, we are growing and working in a mound firmly grounded and unmoving.
HP
Now take a moment and look around at each sister sitting in our circle, in each one lays each strong aspect of the Feminine Trinity. She is the mound in which is planted and lives the Maiden Mother and Crone. Like the Corn, Bean and Squash, each can exist and function and grow alone, but together create a foundation of strengths. In our personal path and in our coven stead we must decide if we will grow alone or work and grow together. (If time permits: take time for those who want to share, go around circle and share the aspects most seen in the sister next to them. This will point out strong points and those areas ones tend to neglect or overlook.)
