Tonight we will be working with the Voduon Lwo or Goddess Erzulie. Erzulie is all about passion. We as witches know that ideas are conceptualized and fulfilled by fueling our desires and wants with passion. But as women we have been taught to put our feelings, wants and needs aside for other people. Demands of career and family often take our passion and it is replaced by function. Then we wake up one day and realize something is missing, but we do not know what it is. It is passion we have lost, maybe it is the fervor in the bedroom, the desire to go out and socialize, the need to be close to Goddess. Tonight we are going to re-embrace our passion by working with Erzulie.
Goddess Erzulie’s Legend
High Priestess
Passion is defined as “a strong emotion” or “something desired intensely.” When we hear the word passion usually we think of a dark and lustful sexual encounter. Yet being passionate is not just segregated to our sex lives. Passion is something that inspires us to feel. Yet sometimes we go through our daily lives with no feelings and we just feel for a lack of a better term, “blah”. We feel nothing or virtually nothing deep within, we are uninspired. Let us work to find that passion again, by looking for little things that we can use as triggers to use daily to bring about a desire to find what we are passionate about. To be passionate daily we need to be passionate about being us, about being a woman. SO, we are going to look for inspiration in lyrics of songs..songs that have a positive message of being female, of being a woman. For I believe if we embrace the multifaceted sacred feminine, then we will find passion for life and then follow our own individual paths to fulfilling our wants and desires. Listen to these chorus’ first notice if you know the song if you do, what emotions does listening to it stir up if you don’t how do you inwardly react to the words. Our Maiden, Mother and Crone will read the lyric, but I ask them not to read the title or artist until after we have our discussions.

Here others can share what they brought for inspiration.
Hopefully these choruses have stirred at least an affirmation of the sacred feminine in each of you . Making you feel like a strong woman. I want you to embrace that strength and think a moment about what the word Passion means to you. Then we are going to do a short meditation to meet our wonderful Goddess Erzulie so she may bestow her gift to you for our astral tool box.
Meditation
I want you all to find a comfortable place and begin to relax. Allow your mind to go blank, focusing on the sound or your breathing. Take three deep breaths slowly inhaling and exhaling. Feel you body relax. The air around you is warm and slightly humid. You feel a warm spray of water on you face and body and realize you are sitting on a white sand beach. Near you is a beautiful woman with dark brown skin. Her skin is so dark, it is almost black. Her hair is long and flowing with white flowers woven in it and she is dressed in a pink dress that flows as she walks towards you. As she approaches you feel your heart speed up a bit and you begin to feel an old familiar stirring deep within you. It is a feeling you used to have, it is happy, vibrant and exciting. She smiles as she walks she motions you to rise and follow her. She walks towards the beautiful ocean, its waters a clear turquoise color. She reaches the edge of the beach and waits for you, she takes you hand in hers and she says, “my child, why to fret so, it is not good to fret so much you lose feelings for what it is you desire’. You look into her eyes and the are bright and burn into yours like fire. It is not frightening, but you can feel the immense power that emanates from her. She begins to walk into the ocean pulling you along with her. As the water touches her skin, iridescent scales begin to appear. She let’s go of your hand as you reach a point where the water is waist deep. She dives into the water and disappears for a moment, and when she emerges she is no longer the beautiful goddess Erzulie, but the rainbow water serpent Aido Wedo. She is large enough for you to climb onto her back, and she begins to swim across the ocean as a quick speed with you holding on. The land disappears behind you and you and the Goddess are in the water, moving quickly with the wind blowing through you hair. You feel free and the further you get from the shore, the less you worry about the mundane tasks you leave behind. You are excited going somewhere but do not know the destination, you heart races as the She as the serpent, begins to weave and jump in and out of the water, playing with you on her back. You watch as you move along, the ocean growing darker as the depth increases, then growing lighter and lighter as you appear to be approaching a familiar place. It is an island, but not just any island it is your special island that you keep your astral tool box. Aido Wedo stops about five feet from the shore and you climb off of her back. The rainbow serpent dives down and reappears as the beautiful Erzulie. Her hair is perfect, her dress as beautiful as when you left the main land. She smells of a beautiful sweet oil that mixes with the smell of the salty air. In her hand is a most beautiful box, made of a sacred wood. You notice how it is embellished and desire to have a box like that. The thought no sooner is thought and Erzulie laughs and say, ” my child you need but ask”. So you look at the most wonderful spirit and say, “mother, may I have the box”. She smiles, hands you the box and beckons you towards you island. You approach the island using your sigils to let you in. You walk around your island until you find your herbory, your torch and your drum that you have left here before. You find a place to sit down and open the box. Inside the box is a layer of bottles, these bottles hold various essential and aromatic oils. You lift the tray out of the box to discover another of layer of oil, then another layer, then another layer, the layers are endless, despite the fact the box is only tall enough for maybe two layers at best. Any scent you desire you simply think of and it appear on the layer in the top of the box. You notice there are also empty bottles available to you decide to mix some oils together. You pick three oil out and mix them together. You carefully look at the neat handwritten names on each bottle as you mix them together, as you mix the trio to obtain the desired scent. You look into the lid and notice a larger bottle of almond oil and you add that to you mixture making a nice essential blend. This oil smells so good, and it stirs that familiar longing and desire burning in your sacral chakra. Ideas long forgotten come to you mind and you remember dreams you have set aside in order to serve others. You are inspired by remembering these dreams. As your mind thinks of you desires and dreams, y ou methodically put your oils away putting the top on snuggly. The only bottle left out is you new mixture, you anoint your wrists, neck and forehead with it. Then you get up and find a place with your other tools to safely keep you box of oils. You stand taking in the smell of the oil and the aroma of you island, allowing the scent to ground you and you feel more connected to the Mother than you have in a long time. Your eyes closed you turn and begin to walk back toward the beach because you know it is time to go. As you reach the beach of your island, you are surprised that Erzulie is not waiting there to take you back. You look across the ocean and it is empty. You shrug your shoulders, turn back towards you island and close you portal in your own special way. When you turn back towards the ocean you see a magnificent rainbow. There is a seat at the beginning of the rainbow, so you sit and relax for a moment. You close you eyes as you sink into this warm welcoming chair. You feel the wind blowing through your hair and you realize you sailing on the rainbow to the other end, which is at the beach you began on. At the beach, still in the chair, the light of the day begins to fade into black. And you feel yourself coming back to the now. Take time to remember what you need to, and when you are ready, return to this room. When you are ready open your eyes.

discuss meditation
In your vision towards the end, you might have seen things you had forgotten you had desired to do, or you saw things you want to rekindle you passion for. I am going to hand out a spell. It is a 7-knot spell. It requires yarn and your desire.
I suggest we take time to bless the cakes and wine and take a small grounding break from the meditation, then we will cut yarn and we can do the spell together, or if some of you need to leave you can take the spell with you and do it at home.

To reinforce the magic you can bless the bunch for the next seven nights by repeating the last verse over it for those seven nights, the find a permanent home for it on the eighth. Anytime you feel your passion waning or you just feel “blah” take out you chords and remember the magic infused into them. Anytime you lose confidence ring the bells and smell the oil to remind you of the power you have to see the outcome of your desires.
