The pagan Wheel of the Year is marked by eight Sabbats, spaced approximately every six weeks throughout the year. Four of these Sabbats represent the position of the solar calendar (either solstice or equinox), and four fall at what are called the “cross quarters.” These ancient dates mark the middle of each season, where the old begins to fade into new.
Hand Maiden will outline the perimeter of Circle with corn and seed. Place gold cloth on the altar and garnish with harvest vegetables and fruits. Place Demeter Oil, seeds and one muslin pouch on altar for every sister in circle.
Hand Maiden will adorn the altar in celebration of the season.
Hand Maiden will place herbs (mixed from fall - harvest enough for every sister in circle to have a small hand full) in a caldron on the altar. The altar should be decorated in honor of Goddess Persephone. Place pomegranate juice and a small glasses for all underneath the altar.
